Last (02.03.2006) discourse was a real fusion of knowledge and entertainment!
On this discourse we didn’t read any article. We saw videos. Though this week the gathering was not that large as it was on 23rd February’s discourse. As in most of the schools it is a time of either submissions or final exam.

On the first session, we saw the video of workshop of architects held recently in BRAC University, Dept. of Architecture, conducted by Architect Muzharul Islam. This video is truly a big asset as we get Architect Muzharul Islam as an instructor here. He describes many aspects of Bangladeshi architecture in respect to the culture, heritage, climate and politics of Bangladesh. Architect Nurur Rahman Khan (Jumu sir) was describing or explaining the speeches by Muzharul Islam in detail to us. Muzharul Islam is now 82. Each of his words is an asset for us. Taking the video of the workshop and showing it to the students and architects is really a great venture by Discourse, (no doubt of it specially Architect Nurur Rahman Khan gets the credit for this initiative).
On the last discourse we saw a very small portion of the entire video. Rest of it will be presented on the upcoming discourse. The video of the last day of the workshop will be presented soon in an open seminar at UAP Open Studio.

In the second session, we were waiting for a breathtaking video of a concert of a percussion band named Stomp. Stomp plays their tunes not by any conventional percussion instruments, they plays it by found materials from junk-yards! This session was very enjoyable. Though this time also we could not see the entire video for the shortage of time. On the next discourse we will also see the entire video of the performance of Stomp.
